This is the granola that started it all! Back in 1997, when Barbara was about to open the Shipman House Bed & Breakfast in Hilo, Hawaii, she wanted to serve a granola that reflected Hawaii’s sense of place, something that had the flavors Hawaii residents love. Nothing like that was available, so she started making up recipes and tweaking them until she had it right! We are using her recipes still.
We use the finest Hawaiian macadamia honey, Hawaiian macadamia oil and, of course, Hawaiian Macadamia Nuts, all from our beautiful Hawai`i Island. Let the flavors swirl around your mouth, cheering every tastebud. Mmmm, perfectly delicious. Sweetened, but not too sweet.
Top it with chocolate chips, cranberries, raisins, coconut, vanilla yogurt, sliced bananas, for a healthy yet decadent breakfast. Fill a freshly-cut, Hawaii-grown papaya with granola, serve it in a parfait glass, or put it on ice cream or frozen yogurt for dessert. I add it to my coffee cake topping, too. Let the fun begin!
